Whilst the urban design process needs to be tailored according to circumstances, it is important that a sequential process is followed:

The key priorities are:

• A single point of contact for managing the design process
• Clearly identified tasks and responsibilities
• Client review and sign offs for completion of each stage
• A defined budgetary control system , identifying funding sources and timetables
• A procurement strategy and a delivery mechanism for making the project happen
