How is it Structured?
This section provides practical guidance on the steps that can be taken in the development process to improve the quality of a place. It looks in turn at each stage and the key issues impacting on the delivery of quality places:
- Policy – developing policies, frameworks, setting targets, community engagement
- Design – sustainable design, making mixed use and density work and designing multi functional streets
- Economics - adding value, parceling sites and procuring partners
- Technical approvals – planning, transport, adoption and construction
- Long term management – managing physical assets, management structures and ensuring communities are self sustaining
For each of these the site provides summary of potential barriers and how they can be overcome, along with case studies. Full guidance from the UDC2 for each issue can be downloaded from the page.
